Travelling to Glasgow

Plane

There are direct flights from several UK and continental European airports to Glasgow Airport. From the airport a taxi or bus will bring you to the university in 20 minutes (longer 07.30-09.30 or 16.30-18.30).

Direct flights by low-cost airlines (especially Ryanair) to Glasgow Prestwick Airport may be more convenient for some. This is a 45 min train journey from Glasgow Central station.

Edinburgh Airport is only 40 miles/60 km away, and has direct flights from some places not served from Glasgow. Unfortunately public transport connection via Edinburgh city centre takes some 90 minutes.

Train

Trains from England arrive at Glasgow Central station, and speeds have recently increased from London (minimum 4.5 hours) and northwest England.

The university is a short underground ride from the station.

Road

From Carlisle, Newcastle and the south, exit M74 on to the M73, joining the M8 at the Old Monkland junction. M8 exits for the University are J18 if travelling from the south, Edinburgh and the north and J19 if coming from Glasgow Airport and the west.

Other main routes serving the University include Great Western Road (A82, north of campus), Clydeside Expressway (A814, south) and Byres Road (B808, west).

Car parking on the University campus and surrounding area is extremely difficult.
