Member Expertise

·                12 CVD reactors inc. multi-layer capability, and fast experimentation.  In addition to our “core” Thermal CVD, we also employ Flame assisted CVD and Atmospheric Pressure Plasma  CVD.

 ·                Materials available for collaboration / grant  etc:  titania thin films, silver and copper  doped titania films, multi-layer thin film structures.  Collaborations with a wide range of companies and Institutions across Europe with interest/activities in photo-catalysis.

 ·                Surface analysis facilities (XRD, GDEOS, XPS, Raman, AFM, FTIR,

 ·                Biocidal activity testing for surfaces and solutions.

 ·                Photocatalytic testing via : Dye test, stearic acid and contact angle.

 ·                Involvement in titania/ Dye sensitised PV cell technology development.

 ·                Design and expertise for process feasibility and implementation studies (thin films).

Member Interests

Keywords

biocidal surfaces, CVD, high throughput experimentation, process engineering

Other Information

Our website (see above) contains some good overview of our publications and current research projects so this is a good place to find out more about our capabilities and the rapid hydrothermal technology that we use

Methods of Assessing

Method Comment
Stearic acid test (solid phase, film)
Water contact angle test (film) Can use for pdw if deposited as a film
Bacterial testing using: E. coli, S. Aureus or K. pneumoniae (gas or liquid phase) (pdw or film)?
Dye Test (non MB) A Mills dye test
